Experimental painting and drawing
This Class will follow all mandated health protocols as set forth by the BC Ministry of Health.
Through this class, students will have the opportunity to expand on their creativity and experiment with various painting and drawing mediums, such as acrylic paint, watercolour, graphite, pencil crayons, ink, and mixed media. The students will learn the principles of art and design with a focus on each student's unique interests. Students will complete a series of projects that will develop their skills in colour theory, colour mixing, shading and sketching. The objective of this class is to nurture student's creativity, imagination, self-confidence, and independence through the medium of art!
Disclaimer: This class will have students on various skill levels. On the first day of class, we will complete an introductory lesson in colour theory and of the art movement of Surrealism. Students will engage in creating a painted self-portrait using colours and objects that reflect each student's unique interests and personality. In the following classes, students will further develop their understanding of colour, light and shadow, composition, and expand on their natural creativity.

Please make sure your child wears clothes they are comfortable getting dirty in or bring a smock as we will be working with paints and other art materials. We want to make sure that your child has the best possible experience in our class.

Meet your instructor: Grace Chen
Grace is painter and illustrator currently working in Vancouver, and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. Inspired by nature, patterns, and her loved ones, Grace is motivated by creating symbolic and surreal work that explores the relationships between different ideas and identities. She enjoys sharing her passion for art with people of all different ages and backgrounds.
