Exhibition Dates and Location

David Pacholko's solo exhibition Colour Takes Flight is on display from November 21st 2025 - January 22nd 2026 in the Township of Langley Civic Building 4th Floor Gallery (20338 65 Ave, Langley, BC V2Y 3J1). The Civic Facility hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.

Exhibition Statement - Colour Takes Flight

Alcohol based inks are notorious for fast drying, and since I was working on paper and canvas I had to work at a frentic and furious pace to keep the inks workable so to speak, at the same time keeping it in a non-scripted fashion. That process aligned with my inspiration for my new series of purely spontaneous work, which was inspired by nature and birds that inhabit my property and surroundings. 

My new experimental work was guided by my intuition and love of colour and movement. As mentioned earlier no preliminary drawings were done prior to creating these impromptu pieces, to borrow a phrase, I was just winging it so to speak. My goal was to re-capture a fleeting moment with graphic gestural black lines and swaths of colour deconstructing birds and their flight paths into swirling, fluttering impressions of movement and colour, capturing their essence as they take flight. 

It is a cohesive collection of over 30 mixed media artworks created in 2024 and 2025. The collection is framed and matted, ranging in size from 11 x 14, to 16 x 20, to 24 x 30 inches.
